Split is the economic and administrative centre of Dalmatia, founded at the end of the 3rd century, not far from Salona – the largest Roman city on the Adriatic. Numerous buildings, museums and archaeological sites and Dioceltian's palace under UNESCO's protection all bear witness of its glorious past. A mild Mediterranean climate ensures about 2.700 sunny hours a year.
Split is a centre of road, maritime and air traffic, which connects Dalmatia with the rest of Croatia and European destinations.
The city is surrounded with other Dalmatian cities as the medieval Sibenik or Romanic Zadar, then the picturesque city of Trogir, the national park Krka and Dalmatian hinterland with small village estates and natural beauties. Nearby larger Dalmatian islands are Brac, Hvar and Vis. There are very good connections with Split which offer a range of possible activities.
With the opening of the new hotels, Split became an unavoidable destination for business events and conferences.
